Filgrastim injection is used to treat neutropenia (low neutrophils count). It prevents infection and neutropenic fevers during chemotherapy. Filgrastim helps the bone marrow to make new white blood cells. Filgrastim acts on hematopoietic cells by binding to specific cell surface receptors, thereby stimulating proliferation, differentiation, commitment, and end cell functional activation. Filgrastim is a supportive medication.
